The Office of Insurance and Safety Fire has implemented the ASME Elevator Safety Code A17.3-2017, which focuses on the Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators. One key aspect of this updated Safety Code is Section 3.10, which addresses Operating Devices and Control Equipment, specifically Requirement 3.10.12 regarding the System to Monitor and Prevent Automatic Operation of the Elevator with Faulty Door Contact Circuits. By January 1, 2025, all existing elevators in Georgia must adhere to this requirement. It is advisable to consult with a company possessing a valid Class I Certificate of Authority to ensure compliance and understand the necessary steps to bring your equipment up to standard.
